Six early career researchers from the TiPACCs project attended the workshop in Voss, where the main focus was to contribute towards the deliverables for the project’s communication and dissemination work package (WP4).

The group arrived in Voss after the FRISP conference just after lunch. We began the workshop by taking a short obne hour walk along the lake where we did a Walkshop; we talked about the science we had heard about during the FRISP conference, our experiences of publishing in different journals and general discussions about our different institutions and working groups.

We had a short break at the hotel and then we worked in the meeting room. During this session we worked on creating content for the interactive map. The main activity was to create a series of quiz questions to appear at the end of the interactive map experience. We created a shared spreadsheet and all researched questions and discussed with each other. We also reviewed the current interactive map content and provided feedback. The output of this session was a spreadsheet with all the written content for the map and quiz questions which will be added to the map. Lena also spent time creating small cartoon graphics to be added to the map.

We then went for dinner in Voss that evening.

During the morning session on Friday we focused on another deliverable for WP4: the teaching material. We first reviewed the material provided by NUSTEM and provided comments for feedback. Then we spent the time recording videos of ourselves answering questions about us as Antarctic scientists, and about scientific research conducted in Antarctica.These videos will be incorporated into the NUSTEM teaching material. 

We had lunch in the hotel and then we went for a group hike in the local area. We took a cable car up to Hangur and walked around the area, before returning back down. Then we returned to Voss and had takeaway pizza by the lake for dinner and we discussed careers and ideas for a follow-up workshop.
