Welcome to the Forum for Research into Ice Shelf Processes meeting.
19-22 June 2023, Stalheim, Norway
We are pleased to invite you to the 36th Forum for Research into Ice Shelf Processes (FRISP 2023). The meeting will be in-person only and will be held 19-22 June 2023 at the Stalheim Hotel, a scenic 2 hours bus ride from Bergen.

We are happy to welcome around 80 scientists from all over the world covering a wide variety of scientific backgrounds, career stage and seniority!

The FRISP meeting is an opportunity for scientists working on ice shelf processes to meet in an informal setting and to exchange ideas, results and field plans. Presentations of research on all aspects of ice shelves and their interaction with the ocean, atmosphere, and ice sheet are welcome. Presentations are encouraged, but we also welcome participants without presentation.
Location, timetable and transport:
The meeting will start with dinner at Stalheim hotel at 19:30h Monday 19/6 and finish before lunch 22/6. The hotel is located in the vicinity of Voss, about 2h 15 min drive from Bergen. We will set up buses leaving at 16:00h from the city centre of Bergen and the airport Monday 19/6. Buses returning to Bergen and the airport will leave the hotel at 12:00h (with packed lunch) Thursday 22/6. Please arrange your travel to Bergen accordingly.
If you want to make your own way to/from the hotel you can for example take the train (from Oslo/Bergen) to Voss, and the local bus from there to Stalheim. Or you can arrive by boat in Gudvangen or Flåm and continue by bus – see www.entur.no for time tables (and tickets).
Accommodation and fees:
The total cost of the meeting, including the organized bus to/from the hotel, accommodation and all meals (but no drinks), is
6,360 NOK in single room
4,860 NOK in double room
This is to be paid directly at the hotel prior to departure. Please note that registration is binding. Cancellations after 21 March 2023 will be charged 50% of the price. Cancellations after 10 June 2023 will be charged a full price.
Abstracts and bus transfer sign-up:
Abstract submission will open once the registration is closed. We will then also ask for sign-up to a specific bus transfer (i.e. pick-up at Bergen centre or airport).
